Archive Community Writing Event!

The Pen Rises

Greetings Archivers, it’s me. Andycu5. And today, I am obligated to inform you all of our newly-conceived Halo fanfic creative writing competition (credit goes to our member Alluvion, the rest of the Community Managers and I, and our Ecumene Council), which will occur for the first two weeks of June! As an incoming creative writing major (Susquehanna University 2019 master caste), this is a great honor—and I am absolutely thrilled to announce it today…and to hopefully participate in it this June. That being said, here’s some important details you’ll be needing:

Read These or I’ll Ban You

Submission Criteria

To start off, before you begin writing, you’ll want to know what you have to write. Our topic is going to be open for now, so you can flesh out any particularly corner of the universe. However, because of how we’ll need to judge the winners (prizes will be detailed—I’m sure you’ll like what we’ve got in mind!), and because of how all judges are human, there’s going to be length criteria. Submissions must be no more than 4,000 words. We’ll have a thread in Community Creations for submitting when the event starts. Submit your work there (spoiler tags), and our legion of judges will review it and conspire it’s fate! And now, as for judges…

Becoming a Judge!

Becoming a judge is relatively easy, but not without cost. By becoming a judge, you’ll be forfeiting your eligibility within the competition. And you’ll also be condemning yourself (hopefully this isn’t condemnation) to reading long stories. So to become a judge, shoot me a PM and I’ll add you to the list.

As I said earlier, we have rewards. The grand winner will receive a FREE copy of Halo: Hunters in the Dark when it releases! We’re still sorting out other prizes, but be sure to expect a badge for participants.

That’s all for now. We’ll have more details later on, and I’ll see you peasants in June. UNLEASH YOUR PENS.
